Jake Pinnell - Marathon Man – London 2018
This is my story...
Simply the hardest but best experience in I’ve ever had. The pain of running 26 miles added to the fact that the marathon being the hottest on record meant six hours of digging deep to successfully complete this massive challenge.
With over 40,000 competitors, and thousands of people on the streets of London, the whole occasion was one of true pride and achievement from everyone involved…and one experience that I will never forget. The crowd were truly amazing and really pushed me over the line. 40,000 other people would agree, their influence in such tough conditions for the runners was such a massive factor in everyone successfully finishing.
On reflecting after the London Marathon; there were many attributes, similar to sales that really pushed me through the whole project. From fundraising with Crohn’s and Colitis UK for 8 months to the day, being resilient, organised and hungry really drove the success of the project.
I have currently raised over £3,000 for Crohn’s and Colitis, which is very close to my heart. If you asked me, ‘Would I do it all over again?’ The answer would no doubt be a big fat YES. Get me to the London Marathon 2019!
